Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Psychological or Psychiatric Specialist to join our Medical Provider Team. This role involves reviewing medical records and writing detailed nexus letters for veterans with psychological, psychiatric, and sleep-related conditions connected to their military service. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health, neuropsychology, forensic psychology, psychiatry, or sleep medicine, with excellent analytical and writing skills. Proficiency with computers and electronic medical documentation systems is essential to ensure accuracy and efficiency. A commitment to assisting veterans and ensuring they receive the benefits they deserve is vital.
Who We’re Looking For:
We are hiring licensed, board-certified specialists in the following fields:
- Psychiatrists (MD/DO) – specializing in mental health disorders, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other psychiatric conditions
- Pulmonologists (MD) – with expertise in sleep apnea and other respiratory conditions
- Clinical Psychologists (PsyD/PhD) – specializing in trauma, PTSD, and psychological disorders
- Forensic Psychologists (PsyD/PhD) – specializing in psychological assessments, trauma impact, and competency evaluations for VA claims.
- Neuropsychologists (PsyD/PhD) – with expertise in cognitive impairments, TBIs, and VA disability evaluations
- Somnologists – specializing in sleep disorders such as insomnia, sleep apnea, and circadian rhythm disorders
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze veterans’ medical and psychological records, evaluations, and histories related to mental health, neurocognitive, psychiatric, and sleep-related conditions.
- Write comprehensive nexus letters establishing causation, aggravation, or secondary service connection for VA disability claims.
- Provide expert psychological and medical opinions on the impact of military service on conditions such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, traumatic brain injury (TBI), sleep apnea, and other related disorders.
- Ensure all documentation is thorough, well-supported, and compliant with VA disability claim requirements.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance in all aspects of documentation and communication.
Qualifications:
- Licensed MD, DO, PsyD, or PhD in the U.S. with board certification in psychiatry, psychology, pulmonology, neuropsychology, forensic psychology, or sleep medicine.
- Expertise in psychiatric, psychological, neurocognitive, and sleep disorders commonly seen in veterans.
- Strong analytical and medical writing skills to produce high-quality, evidence-based nexus letters.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing medical records and writing medical opinions.
- Empathy and commitment to advocating for veterans’ health and disability benefits.
- Experience with VA disability claims is a plus but not required (training provided).
- Veteran status or prior experience with the VA is preferred.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and standard office software.
