(Full-Time and Part-Time Positions Available)
Location: Remote (USA-based applicants only)
Company Overview:
Claim Climbers is dedicated to supporting U.S. military veterans by providing nexus letters that strengthen VA disability claims. Our mission is to ensure veterans receive the benefits they have earned through personalized, evidence-based services.
Role Overview:
Claim Climbers is seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented Nexus Eligibility Specialist to join our Medical Evidence Team. This role focuses on reviewing and analyzing veterans’ medical records, VA rating decisions, and denial letters to determine whether a nexus letter can be ethically and accurately written. The ideal candidate has a strong medical background, extensive experience evaluating medical documentation, and a history of performing high-accuracy work independently in a remote environment. Experience as a Veteran Service Officer (VSO), National Service Officer, or Veterans Service Representative (VSR), or comparable is a plus. Experience interpreting VA rating logic and medical evidence standards is required.
Why This Role Matters
Every day, veterans are denied the disability benefits they earned because of missing or misunderstood medical evidence. Claim Climbers was founded to change that. As a Nexus Eligibility Specialist, you will play a direct role in closing the evidence gap, ensuring veterans have the strongest possible case when pursuing their VA benefits. If you are detail-oriented, mission-driven, and committed to making a real difference, this is your opportunity to have both a meaningful and impactful career.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed Nexus Eligibility Lists based on thorough medical record reviews
- Document within each client’s account why a nexus letter can or cannot be written for specific conditions
- Provide accurate, detailed, and well-supported documentation to ensure clarity for clients and internal teams
- Identify and organize potential primary conditions, secondary conditions, appeals, and increases for veteran claims
- Collaborate with other members of the team to ensure seamless communication and timely follow-up with clients
- Stay updated on VA regulations, case law, and rating criteria to provide accurate and reliable assessments
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines and company standards for confidentiality
- Offer informed and empathetic guidance to veterans on possible next steps in the nexus letter process
Qualifications
- Medical background with experience in medical document review required
- Direct experience interpreting VA rating decisions, VA denial letters, and the reasoning behind VA disability determinations is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment with consistent reliability and productivity.
- Experience applying quality control or audit frameworks in a documentation-heavy role.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and comfort using CRM or EMR systems.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to remain objective, evaluate evidence fairly, and take veteran statements at face value while applying evidence-based judgment.
- Veteran Service Officer, accredited agent, or former VA rater experience is a plus.
- Commitment to serving veterans with empathy, professionalism, and integrity.
- Veteran status is a plus.
Performance Expectations
- Accurately interpret VA rating decisions, denial logic, and criteria for service connection, increases, and secondary conditions.
- Apply sound evidence-based judgment to determine appropriate service connection routes and remove unsupported conditions with clear and defensible justification.
- Ensure all eligibility determinations withstand internal audit review without requiring correction or clarification.
- Maintain a minimum accuracy standard of 98 percent. Errors directly impact veteran outcomes.
- Document every case thoroughly, clearly, and consistently so medical providers and internal reviewers can understand the full reasoning without follow-up.
- Maintain steady case throughput while preserving accuracy, clarity, and compliance with internal quality benchmarks.
- Demonstrate strong ability to distinguish mental health conditions from non-mental health conditions and apply the correct evaluation logic for each.
- Review prior ratings to avoid duplicating established service connections and ensure all recommendations are evidence-based.
- Demonstrate proactive time management and reliability in a remote environment, including timely responses and effective workload organization.
- Communicate findings professionally, clearly, and empathetically to veterans and internal team members.
- Meet or exceed all productivity, accuracy, and communication expectations within the first 90 days.
